This is for those of you auditioning for Drum Major.
I have searched both my house, the band room, and my office high and low
multiple times and cannot find the score for Malaguena. I'm really kind of
annoyed that I can't find it and have no idea what happened to it. Anyway,
it's no biggie. We're still going to use it for auditions. The score is
more important when we're rehearsing real musicians, but not when you simply
want to show off your conducting skills. Prepare the piece using the
recording and your part. We're looking for technique stuff anyway, not
checking off that you covered every marking in the score. Know what I mean?
Make sure you're giving a good pattern, and make sure you have some cues,
dynamic changes, and cutoffs. Your part will show you any tempo/meter
changes and most dynamic changes, so you should be all set. If you lost
your part, let me know and I'll upload it for you to download.
I'm going back into school at least one more time this week, and if I happen
to come across it then (I'm going to look through library stuff - Duncan's
been working on it so it might have gotten mixed up in there) I'll get it to
you guys - I'll scan it and put it on the website.

For everyone auditioning, the packet and recording can be downloaded here:

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks! (and good luck!)
-Mrs. G
