Hi Everyone-
For any 8-12 grader interested in Aftershock, we will have our last
chance meeting/rehearsal this Thursday, April 13, at 6:00 PM in the Band
Room. Because there isn't a lot of time left in the school year, this is
our last shot to get the group off the ground. If we don't have enough
people this time, we're going to have to forget it for this year. So,
please be there. If you have a conflict that is only an issue because this
is relatively short notice, please let me know. This needs to be something
that won't be a problem in the future. Again, because of the short amount
of time left in the year, it's going to be very important that everybody be
there for every rehearsal so we can get a show out.
Here's the MINIMUM I want for personnel (to make this successful):
1-2 flutes
1-2 clarinets
2-3 altos
1 tenor
1 bari
3 trumpets
1 trombone
1 baritone
1 sousa/tuba
1 snare
1 tenors
3 bass
1 cymbals
2 front ensemble
4 guard

I want at least 5 combined of flutes, clarinets, and altos. More of
anything is okay. Drumline and Colorguard people must have experience (at
least in winter drumline or winterguard/dance team, if not marching band).
Any high school wind players are welcome, 8th grade winds from marching band
are also welcome. Any 8th grade newcomers are welcome as well, but they
will have to work a little harder to learn how to march on top of learning
the show.
Tell your friends! I know a lot of you want to see this happen. I think it
will be a great recruiting tool, and a lot of fun! The plan for the meeting
is to lay out a rehearsal schedule, get parts handed out to people who don't
already have them, and to talk through a few logistics. We'll dive in right
after April vacation (another reason we need everyone there on Thursday is
so I can write drill for the right number of people).

Wanna be a student leader? Drum Major? Colorguard Captain? Section
Leader? Packets for auditions will be available tomorrow afternoon, as well
as on the website. See me to get the info you need. Potential drum majors,
see me to set up an individual conducting lesson if you want one. Go to
http://www.marshwoodmusic.org/mb/forms.html to download the info (right now
it's last year's stuff. This year's stuff will go up when the packets are
ready to be handed out). Section leader auditions are open to anyone who
was in marching band this year. Drum major auditions are open to students
in grades 9-11 who were in marching band this year. Good luck!

Finally, there will be a music boosters meeting tomorrow night (Tuesday,
April 12) at 6:30 PM in Ms. West's room. Hope to see lots of you there!

Stay tuned for info about the Memorial Day parade rehearsals (the parades
are on Memorial Day - May 30 - we'll be done at noon).

Thanks!
-Mrs. G
